The Girl In The Mirror

January 26, 2017

mirrors are dangerous.
the girl on the other side of the glass? she can be your best friend - or she could be poison.
tell me truthfully - are their lies in her eyes?
do you believe them?

don't.
don't.

don't believe the trash she's feeding you. believe the still, small voice in your ear that is Him, trying to tell you the truth.

"I love you. I love you. I love you.
you are beautiful and charismatic and perfect. this hand that crafted stars - I used it to craft you.
I came to die for you - the beautiful girl who has no one to compare herself to.
I love you. I love you. I love you."

that mirror girl? she's can be cold. calculating, even. she's insecure, you can see it in her face.
a mirror flips everything backwards. so if she's insecure ... maybe you're standing on something solid.
look closer. you'll recognize it.

"I love you. I love you. I love you."

hey there, mirror girl - tell me what you're so afraid of. is it that i'm inadequate, or is it that i'm superhuman?

  1. I don't mind, Savannah! This was so pretty! It really reminded me of your poem.

"this hand that crafted stars - I used it to craft you." Just wow.

    1. Thank you so much, Hanna! I wasn't sure about sharing this (it's actually something I wrote in my journal a few days ago) but I thought you guys might enjoy it ;).

    2. Whoa, whoa, whoa, wait, only the line at the end was by abbie emmons--I thought you meant the poem was by her! *face palm* #blondemoment #ifellenreadsthisillneverheartheendofit
      You wrote this? I'm speechless.
My reference to 'your poem' probably made no sense. *face palm again* I meant 'Hiding' (which is also stunningly gorgeous).
Anyway, just me mistranslating things as usual, don't mind me. *cough* This was amazing.

    3. Haha, Ariel said some people might get confused - it's perfectly fine! (*whispers* and I won't be the one to tell Ellen - but she might find out on her own xD)
I'm so glad you liked this, Hanna! And I knew you meant 'Hiding' - I think that's the only poem I've posted on here, actually. Maybe I should do more someday.

    4. I just blasted it across the internet, so she probably will. Ah well, I can weather her blonde jokes.
You should definitely post more poems!

  3. Um, excuse me. I...I can't.

*stares at post stunned by the beautiful truth*

    I...

I AM LITERALLY STUNNED RIGHT NOW. That was just...GAH. I have no words! That was beautiful, and something I desperately needed.

Savannah. SAVANNAH. This was one of the most gorgeous things I've ever read in my life! It pierced right into my heart. But in the best way possible.

"she can be your best friend - or she could be poison." Oh gracious alive, the truth in those words!

And THIS: "this hand that crafted stars - I used it to craft you." I want to memorize this line and repeated over and over again.

SAVANNAH. YOU ARE A BLESSING TO THIS EARTH. THIS POST IS EVERYTHING. <33333333

    1. CHRISTINE. *faints* I CAN'T.

Thank you SO MUCH for your comment, girl - this literally made my day. I HAVE NO WORDS.

I'm SO GLAD my little jumble-y post could encourage you! I don't even remember why I wrote this entry in my journal, but I thought you guys might like to hear it ;).

"Oh gracious alive" - okay, why did I almost read that as 'Shadows alive"? Apparently I've been thinking about Burning Thorns too much lately xD.

YOU ARE AN AMAZING FRIEND AND I'M BLESSED TO KNOW YOU. Thank you for your sweet comment, Lauri! <3

  6. Well that was super inspirational. Bookmarking this for when I'm looking at my flaws in the mirror, because that is NOT what God is about. :)

  8. OH MY GRACIOUS THIS IS GOOD. You know how I proof-read it for you? Well, I didn't really say much, but while I was reading this, I was just mentally going, "Oh my, oh my, oh my..." THIS WAS GOLD, SAVANNAH.

    1. Thank you so much, Madeline! It's funny how everyone is saying that it's a 'poem', when I'm actually not sure WHAT it is xD. Guess 'poem' works, then!

Thanks! I asked her if I could use it, because it was PERFECT to end with ;).
